On Sunday, August 30, Altai presents a special concert with Baatarsuren Chadraabal and Rowan Hartsuiker at DOT Groningen. Known for its immersive projections and remarkable acoustics, this iconic dome creates a unique atmosphere for an evening of Mongolian music and sound.
Baatarsuren is a master throat singer and instrument maker from Western Mongolia, where the tradition of throat singing is deeply rooted. Together with Rowan, he creates rich and layered soundscapes in which voice and instrument merge into one immersive musical experience.
During the concert, audiences will journey through traditional Mongolian songs, throat singing, and instrumental music. Expect an intense and mesmerizing experience featuring khöömii (throat singing), morin khuur (horsehead fiddle), tovshuur, and Mongolian harp — sounds that resonate beautifully within the dome and transport listeners to the vast landscapes of Mongolia.
