Throat Singing Workshop

Weekend Workshop “Throat Singing & Overtones” — With Mongolian Guest Musician

The perfect opportunity to immerse yourself for two days in the art of throat singing and overtone singing within an inspiring and intimate workshop environment.

Discover the Magic of Overtones & Throat Singing

Have you always been curious about overtone singing and throat singing? During this special 2-day workshop, you will explore the techniques behind these remarkable vocal arts in a relaxed and inspiring atmosphere, guided by Baatarsuren Chadraabal and Rowan Hartsuiker.

Baatarsuren is a respected Mongolian throat singer, multi-instrumentalist, and instrument maker from Khovd in Western Mongolia. He works both as a musician and craftsman at the theatre of Khovd and shares his knowledge with great passion and dedication.

We warmly welcome you to make music together, learn, and discover your voice in a completely new way — while immersing yourself in the richness of Mongolian culture.

Curious what such a weekend looks like? Read our blog post: Experience the Magic of Throat Singing & Overtones During a Weekend Workshop.

Program Overview

On Saturday, we welcome you at 13:00 with a cup of traditional Mongolian milk tea. Around 14:00, the first workshop begins, where you will discover the foundations of overtone singing and throat singing. After a delicious Mongolian dinner, the second workshop takes place in the evening. Afterwards, there is time to relax, make music together, or — if the weather allows — enjoy a cozy campfire outside.

On Sunday morning, we begin with a traditional Mongolian breakfast, followed by a walk across the beautiful estate of our neighbors. Afterwards, the third workshop takes place, with special attention given to the Tsuur — a traditional Mongolian flute — which you will even be able to take home afterwards. (Handmade by Baatarsuren.)

After lunch, we conclude the afternoon with a final workshop session where everything learned throughout the weekend comes together and deepens further.

A weekend filled with music, culture, inspiration, and connection.
