An exclusive music journey into the soul of Mongolia

Experience Mongolia in a way that is rarely possible. During this 14-day journey, you will discover the magic of throat singing in nature, learn the Altai Harp from a master musician, experience shamanic ceremonies up close, and travel through authentic Mongolia in a small and close-knit group. Thanks to our deep personal connection with the country — through family, friends, musicians, and local partners — we can open doors that remain closed to ordinary travelers, making this journey truly unique, intimate, and unforgettable.

The Journey Consists of Two Inspiring Parts:

Part 1 — (3 Days)

Three days fully focused on learning and discovering everything about the Altai Harp

Surrounded by the peaceful silence of Mongolian nature, you will immerse yourself for three days in the mysterious and ancient tradition of the Altai Harp. Guided by Ganpurev — master musician, researcher, and composer — you will discover the history, meaning, and unique playing techniques of this revived instrument. In small groups, you will explore sound, rhythm, and melody, with space for meditation, connection with nature, and personal reflection. It is a rare opportunity to learn this extraordinary instrument in the place where its roots lie — an experience that will be both musically and spiritually unforgettable.

Part 2 — (11 Days)

An amazing journey through nomadic culture, music sessions and workshops, nature & spirituality

After the Altai Harp experience, the journey continues with an 11-day tour through Central Mongolia led by Suvdaa together with Rowan, Saran, two private chefs, and throat singer Saruul. During this journey, you will experience the authentic heart of Mongolia: vast landscapes, breathtaking locations, nomadic traditions, and the deep spirituality that flows through the country. Each day offers space for music, connection with nature, and inspiring throat singing workshops with Saruul. We end the adventure together in Ulaanbaatar, where we celebrate the journey with a special closing gathering.

Part 1: A Special 3-Day Introduction to the mysterious Altai Harp

Three days dedicated to learning and discovering the Altai Harp.

The first part of this exceptional journey takes you to Tsagaan Bulag — a small-scale yurt camp surrounded by the vast nature of Mongolia, where silence, inspiration, and beauty come together. Here, you will immerse yourself in the magical world of the Altai Harp under the guidance of Ganpurev Davaakhuu: researcher, composer, and one of the leading musicians of this remarkable instrument.

In this intimate setting, you will learn how to play the harp, discover its techniques, and experience the deeper feeling behind the music. You will notice how the sounds resonate with the landscape around you, how melodies seem to emerge naturally, and how music itself becomes an inner journey. No musical experience is required — together, we learn traditional melodies and songs step by step in a warm and personal atmosphere.

What You Will Experience in Part 1

  • 3 days of in-depth Altai Harp workshops
  • Learn traditional melodies and songs
  • Personal guidance by Ganpurev
  • Sessions in a beautiful and remote natural setting in Mongolia

Part 2: Tour through Mongolia

And then: a fully arranged 11-day journey through Central Mongolia. Together with Suvdaa, Rowan, Saran, and throat singer Saruul, you will travel through diverse landscapes, visit extraordinary places, meet nomadic families, and experience how music, nature, and traditions come together in a unique way. This journey also offers a rare opportunity to experience shamanic ceremonies and rituals up close — allowing you not only to see Mongolia, but to truly feel its spiritual heart.

Through the Most Beautiful Landscapes of Mongolia.

During this 11-day journey, you will travel through some of the most breathtaking and spiritually charged places in Central Mongolia. From mysterious granite valleys and white limestone cliffs to vast open plains where the silence becomes almost tangible.

Together with Suvdaa, Rowan, Saran, and throat singer Saruul, a natural connection emerges between music and landscape. Sometimes we sing together in the open air, other moments we simply listen, experience, and absorb the stillness around us. This part of the journey allows you to experience Mongolia in a rare and deeply authentic way — pure, intimate, and closely connected to nature.

Where you can truly experience the vastness of the world.

In the Gobi, a landscape unfolds that constantly surprises: endless open space, silent valleys, soft colors, and horizons that seem to stretch forever. Here, everything slows down. You will climb sand dunes, walk through impressive canyons, and experience how silence and nature take on an almost ceremonial quality.

The music of Saruul travels with us and gains a deeper meaning in these extraordinary places. We organize daily throat singing workshops in nature, where you will explore the basic techniques, discover different styles, and experience how throat singing is deeply connected to the sounds of wind, water, animals, and the natural world around us.

During These Days You Will Experience

  • A unique fully arranged journey in a small group
  • Beautiful walks through peaceful and vast natural landscapes
  • Visits to some of Mongolia’s most breathtaking locations
  • Authentic encounters with nomadic families guided by Mongolia experts
  • Shamanic rituals and spiritual experiences
  • The power of silence and open space unlike anywhere else
  • Incredible dark skies filled with countless stars
  • Singing in nature at places with magical acoustics
  • Daily throat singing workshops guided by Saruul
  • A private chef traveling with the group, allowing personal wishes and diets to always be accommodated

Guided by...

This journey is brought to life by a small and dedicated team that lovingly connects music, tradition, spirituality, and nature. Through their experience, knowledge, and deep connection with Mongolian culture, you will experience Mongolia in a way that feels authentic, personal, and unforgettable.

Suvdaa

Raised in a traditional Mongolian yurt and moving to Berlin at the age of eighteen for her studies, she has been organizing authentic small-scale journeys through Mongolia for European guests since 2006. Through her deep knowledge of Mongolian culture, she offers access to places, people, and traditions that would otherwise remain hidden.

Saran

Founder of Altai and born in a traditional yurt in Mongolia, she grew up within the nomadic traditions before later studying in Russia and eventually settling in the Netherlands. Through her deep knowledge of Mongolian culture, she brings meaningful stories and traditions to life during the journey, while also assisting the chefs where needed.

Rowan

Musician, teacher, and co-founder of Altai. For more than twenty years, he has specialized in Mongolian throat singing and plays instruments such as the morin khuur, tovshuur, Altai Harp, and mouth harp. With great passion, he shares the music and traditions that have inspired him for decades.

And this journey would not be possible without the support of:
Saruul

Born in Chandman — considered the birthplace of Mongolian throat singing — and raised in a family of renowned singers. He represents the new generation of professional throat singers and works full-time as a musician in Ulaanbaatar.

Ganpurev

Musician, composer, and researcher who revived the Altai Harp after its rediscovery in 2008. He developed the modern playing and teaching method and is considered one of the leading contemporary masters of this extraordinary instrument.
