Phenomenon and Master Throat Singer Batzorig Vaanchig on Tour in Europe

European Solo Tour — April 16 to May 18, 2026

About Batzorig Vaanchig

Batzorig Vaanchig (1977) is one of Mongolia’s most respected traditional musicians. A master of the morin khuur (horsehead fiddle) and Mongolian throat singing (khöömii), he has performed across the world — from the main stage of the United Nations in New York to festivals throughout Asia, Europe, and North and South America.

Globally known as one of the most recognizable voices of Mongolian music, Batzorig has reached millions of listeners through his powerful performances. His videos have been viewed hundreds of millions of times, he has built a loyal international audience on social media, and his music is streamed by more than 100,000 listeners every month. His performance of Chinggis Khaanii Magtaal (“Praise of Chinggis Khan”) alone has surpassed 70 million views. For many people worldwide, he represents the sound and spirit of Mongolian throat singing and traditional music.

Batzorig also composed music for the Marco Polo Netflix series, including the piece The Beautiful Steppe, bringing Mongolian music to an even wider global audience.

In addition to his solo career, he is co-founder of the internationally acclaimed ethnic band Khusugtun. He performs on several traditional Mongolian instruments, including the morin khuur, tovshuur, tsuur, and mouth harp, and has received numerous awards — including Mongolia’s highest state honor, the “Order of the Polar Star.”

A Historic Cultural Moment

With his enormous international reach and worldwide reputation, Batzorig Vaanchig is considered one of the most important ambassadors of Mongolian throat singing of his generation. His first-ever solo tour through Europe offers a rare opportunity for concert halls, festivals, and cultural organizations to host a true master of traditional music and introduce audiences to one of the world’s most unique musical traditions.

Organized by Altai & Partners

This tour is organized by Altai (The Netherlands), a cultural center founded by Rowan Hartsuiker and Saran Myagmarsuren, dedicated to sharing and deepening the understanding of Mongolian music and culture throughout Europe.

The tour combines concerts with educational and cultural activities. During the workshops, participants are given the rare opportunity to experience Mongolian throat singing, overtone singing, the morin khuur, and other traditional instruments within the cultural context in which this music was born. The concert program focuses on sharing the beauty and emotional depth of Mongolian songs and melodies with a broad audience.

Together, these elements reflect the mission of Altai: not only to present Mongolian music, but to invite people to truly experience, understand, and connect with it. Beyond the live events themselves, the entire tour is carefully documented through photography and video, helping this extraordinary music reach and inspire an even larger international audience online.
