Domog — 20th Anniversary European Tour

Powerful and energetic throat singing from Mongolia — one of the country’s most influential ensembles on European tour: September 14 – October 15, 2026

About Domog

Domog is one of Mongolia’s leading traditional music ensembles, internationally recognized for their powerful and contemporary approach to Mongolian music. The name Domog refers to ancient legends and stories passed down through music and oral tradition.

The group combines khöömii (throat singing) with traditional instruments such as the morin khuur (horsehead fiddle) in a dynamic and energetic musical style deeply rooted in Mongolian tradition. In 2013, Domog won the Grand Prix “Golden Orpheus” and was crowned Absolute World Champion at the World Championship of Folklore. For more than 20 years, the ensemble has performed internationally and is regarded as one of the most influential representatives of Mongolian musical culture.

A Special Cultural Moment

With an international reputation and strong artistic influence within the world of Mongolian throat singing, Domog has inspired musicians both inside and outside Mongolia for more than two decades. Their unique style and compositions have helped shape a new generation of traditional Mongolian music.

This 20th anniversary European tour marks a special cultural moment: a rare opportunity for theaters, festivals, and cultural organizations to experience one of Mongolia’s most influential ensembles live on stage. Through powerful performances, Domog brings an ancient musical tradition to life in a modern and deeply energetic way.

Organized by Altai

This European tour is organized by Altai (The Netherlands), a cultural initiative founded by Rowan and Saran Hartsuiker dedicated to sharing Mongolian music and culture throughout Europe.

The tour combines concerts with educational and cultural activities. During the performances, Domog presents a selection of their most influential works, characterized by powerful throat singing, traditional instruments, and energetic compositions. Additional workshops can also be organized, allowing participants to explore throat singing (khöömii), overtone singing, and traditional Mongolian instruments within their original cultural context.

In this way, the tour reflects Altai’s mission: not only presenting Mongolian music, but inviting people to truly experience it. The entire tour will also be documented through photography and video to reach and inspire a wider international audience online.
